When you’ve found a wedding venue that interests you, it is important to ask the right questions to make sure that all your needs and requirements will be met to make your big day just right.
Availability
Possibly the biggest question, especially if you have a specific date in mind, but worth asking early as possible. Is the venue available on your preferred wedding date and time?
Capacity
What is the maximum capacity of the venue, and will it comfortably accommodate all your guests? Some venues may have very different locations for the ceremony and reception, so making sure each fits your requirements is important.
Services
What services or amenities are available? Does the venue offer catering, decorations, chairs, tables, linens, and other equipment? What is included in the fee and what incurs additional costs?
Catering options
Does the venue have an in-house catering service, and if so, what are the menu options? If not, do they have standing arrangements with third-party caterers or can you bring in your own caterer?
Alcohol policy
What is the venue's policy regarding alcohol? Can you bring your own alcohol, or does the venue have its own bar? What about bar staff? Do they charge corkage?
Setup and clean-up
Will the venue handle setting up before and cleaning up after the event, or will you be responsible for it? If the venue provides the service, what are the fees?
Parking
Is there adequate parking available for guests, and is it included in the rental fee? Are there alternatives such as local taxis or public transport options serving the location?
Accessibility
Is the venue accessible for guests with disabilities? Are there any stairs, elevators, or ramps available?
Noise restrictions
Are there any noise restrictions in place that could affect your wedding? An enforced closing time could put a damper on your reception as would a limit on the music volume, so be sure to ask.
Payment and cancellation policies
What is the payment schedule, and what are the cancellation policies? Are there any penalties for cancelling or rescheduling the event?
Accommodation
Does the venue have accommodation available? How many guests can they take? What kinds of accommodation do they offer?
Asking these questions will help you make an informed decision when selecting a wedding venue and ensure that the venue meets all your needs and expectations.
